The Peaks of Cycling – A Cycling Centric Place of Convergence

M.Arch Thesis / Spring 2016

Program: Create a sanctuary which promotes the history, culture and thrill of the world of riding a bike. Explore the bicycle as an artifact having the ability to connect diverse cultures and interests in unique ways. Combine the diverse array of cycling events and activities into a strong commerce and development driver.

Lastly, become a steward of the natural habitat of this Native American Reservation land by anchoring this unique development with a popular opportunity that changes how competition cycling venues have been developed in the past.

Solution: Realigned a strategy of building Velodromes and BMX tracks in the middle of nowhere to placing them somewhere that becomes in the middle of everywhere. Implemented innovative yet suitable passive energy strategies and showcased the events of a cycling culture, around a constant flow of well coordinated mixed activity. This converts this destination into an overflow of social and commerce activity where cycling is featured as its crowned jewel. In essence, this place created for cycling becomes a social, cultural, recreational, developmental and economic magnet.
