Scottsdale Quarter Residence Skydeck 

Design exploration for a rooftop activity lounge of luxury apartments for Nelsen Partners.

Program: Explore a series of concepts to activate a rooftop communal space, provide shade, comfort, and emphasize spaciously framed views. As an art space, it becomes a place of desire from the public space view below.

Solution: Created a sheltered canopy to the west and open overhead space to the east. This gathering space creates spectacular afternoon and sunset views, with open star gazing to the east. An undulating trellis covered walkway connects the two wings of apartments while influencing circulation to its two open spaces, this promotes air current and comfort. The 4 piece nested and repeated patterned metal panels create a swift fabrication strategy that could be easily budgeted and quoted.
